Glen A. Teager

Finance Officer & FSD Rowan County

I have implemented two policies that drastically reduced meal charges.  At the High School, the site-base council adopted a policy that does not allow students with food service charges in excess of $10 to obtain or keep a parking pass, or to attend school-sponsored dances (i.e. Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins, Prom, etc.).  In addition, I “offered” as a benefit to all employees to have their or their children’s charges deducted from payroll.  This policy applies regardless of where they are located versus which school their children may attend.  I have found with this policy that the easiest way to handle it is to get them to agree to a set amount per payroll, and then deduct whatever may remain from their final June check.  Each cafeteria has the employee sign an agreement letter if they want to charge their meals.
